STRENGTH IN NUMBERS

ABOUT US

Thousands of UMD students leave parties every weekend. These students often feel unsafe making the walk back at night, whether it is to a bus stop or to their residence building. When a student has to leave a party alone in the dark, safety can be an issue.

The impact of Strength in Numbers is two-fold. First and foremost we seek to ensure the safety of the individuals walking back home. In addition, we aim to enable fraternities to rid themselves of the stigma that they do not care for students’ safety by enlisting them in our cause.

Our service will consist of responsible fraternity brothers walking party attendees to bus stops throughout the outskirts of the College Park campus. At these points, the brothers will wait with students until a large enough group of 3+ students is ready to depart. This service will be ongoing from midnight until 2 AM.

HOW WE OPERATE

Our organization hopes to deter criminal activity and foster a greater sense of safety and community within the College Park area.
